Ted Hughes and Jim Downer were flatties back in the day and Jim wanted to woo a lady by writing a childrenÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂìÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂâs story in order to prove his parenting credentials. He created whimsical illustrations to match an ordinary story line. Ted took pity on him and wrote a delightful poem. The book is being published in a facsimile edition and Jim did marry the lady he was romancing.
