Tending the Landscape of the Heart contains poems that will offer rewards to those who return to them for many years to come. Although conversational in tone, they are underpinned by a subtlety and awareness of nuance that recalls that of a great poet such as Seamus Heaney. The poems employ a direct and apparent simplicity of language to reveal the deeper complexities of what it means to be human.
The Author: In mid-2017, Terry Locke exchanged academic life as a Professor of Arts and Language Education at the University of Waikato for retirement on a rural property in the Ngongotaha Valley. He has embraced his new freedoms to undertake a Virgilian writing revel which furnished most of the poems in this book, published five years after Ranging Around the Zero.(Steele Roberts, 2014)
